A PROGRAM OF THE WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF - PITTSBURGH
Residential Program

With some of the students traveling more than an hour each way, SSDHHC places a major emphasis on providing the same kind of social, emotional and academic support that you would provide if your child were at home. Our residential students arrive on campus on Monday morning and return to their homes on Friday afternoon.

The boys' and the girls' dorms are attached to the main building and feature a cheerful environment and group gathering areas.
SSDHHC offers many opportunities for the students to socialize including parties, dances, athletic events, movies, special dinners, bowling league and the snack bar.

Because learning does not stop at the end of the day, residential staff and volunteer tutors are on hand to help with homework and answer academic questions.

The Health Center is staffed from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. by a registered nurse. The school doctor visits Monday through Thursday to care for injured or sick students.
