A Welcome from Ms. Rebecca Gaw

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the summer sun and warmth. We just finished up our ESY/Summer School Program. Students were involved in many language rich experiences both on and off campus. The students had no idea how much they were learning while still having fun.  I also had the opportunity of seeing two students sign the National Anthem at a Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees game. They did a wonderful job. I was very proud. You will soon be able to find pictures of our summer program and our two signers on our website and Facebook page.

During the summer, staff have been busy getting our new building ready for the upcoming school year. Faculty have been coming in to set up their new classrooms and everyone is excited about using the new equipment we have acquired. I am excited not only about starting this new job with wonderful staff, but having the chance to grow a program in a beautiful new facility. The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children and The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf have an outstanding reputation and I look forward to carrying on their strong tradition of educational excellence.

Although I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of the school’s friends during my first four weeks at The Scranton School, I know there are still many more people to meet. We can’t wait to show off our new building and all the wonderful things our students are learning and doing at school.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
